Global Lightning Imager Level 2 (GOES-East) 10 minutes aggregrated lightning count grid (0.05°). GOES satellites provide continuous weather imagery and monitoring of meteorological and space environment data across North America. GOES satellites hover continuously over one position on the surface. Because they stay above a fixed spot on the surface, they provide a constant vigil for the atmospheric 'triggers' for severe weather conditions such as tornadoes, flash floods, hailstorms, and hurricanes. When these conditions develop, the GOES satellites are able to monitor storm development and track their movements.

Global Lightning Imager Level 2 (GOES-East) 10 minuten geaggregeerde bliksem som grid (0.05°). GOES-satellieten leveren continue weerbeelden en monitoring van meteorologische en ruimteomgevingsgegevens in Noord-Amerika. GOES-satellieten zweven continu boven één positie op het oppervlak. Omdat ze boven een vaste plek op het oppervlak blijven, houden ze constant toezicht op de atmosferische 'triggers' voor extreme weersomstandigheden zoals tornado's, overstromingen, hagelbuien en orkanen. Wanneer deze omstandigheden zich ontwikkelen, kunnen de GOES-satellieten de ontwikkeling van stormen monitoren en hun bewegingen volgen.
