Wind - model tijdreeksen van 1979 tot en met 2013 (35 jaar) op 10-200 meter boven de Noordzee in bestanden per 2.5 km gridlocatie

The KNW (KNMI North Sea Wind) atlas is based on the ERA-Interim reanalyses dataset which captures more than 40 years (January 1979 - August 2019) of meteorological measurements and generates 3D wind (temperature, etc) fields consistent with these measurements and the laws of physics. This dataset is downscaled using the state-of-the-art weather forecasting model, HARMONIE with a horizontal grid of 2.5 km. The vertical profile of wind speed was calibrated against the 200 m tall Cabauw measurement mast to obtain a single wind shear correction coefficient which was applied throughout the whole dataset. The result is a high resolution dataset of more than 40 years: the KNW dataset. Extensions of the time series from 2014 up to and including August 2019 are available in another dataset within the KNMI data centre.

De KNW-atlas is windklimatologie (en o.a. temperatuur) gebaseerd op meer dan 40 jaar (januari 1979 - augustus 2019) meteorologische metingen die op een fysisch consistente manier zijn samengevat in een 3D representatie m.b.v. ERA-Interim. De ERA-Interim her-analyse is m.b.v. weermodel HARMONIE op een hogere horizontale resolutie gebracht (gridafstand 2,5 bij 2,5 km). Vervolgens is de ERA-Interim/HARMONIE dataset geijkt met metingen van de Cabauw-meetmast en de windscheringscorrectie die daaruit volgde, is voor de hele dataset toegepast. Het resultaat is de KNW-atlas. Verlengingen van de tijdseries zijn van 2014 t/m augustus 2019 zijn elders in het KNMI datacentrum beschikbaar.

Every 6 hours the ERA-Interim Re-analysis initializes the HARMONIE Weather Model cycle 37h1.1 throughout the whole of the model domain. The atlas is comprised of the successive 1-6 hour HARMONIE forecasts after each 6 hourly cold start.

Om de 6 uren wordt de ERA-Interim heranalyse gebruikt om het HARMONIE weermodel versie 37h1.1 te initialiseren. De atlas wordt samengesteld uit opeenvolgende 1-6 uur HARMONIE verwachtingen die volgen uit de 6-uurlijkse koude starts.
