EWC local climate information - interpolated climate indices based on transformed time series

Climate indices were interpolated from observations and transformed time series at automatic weather stations and precipitation stations in the Netherlands for the period 1991-2020 and for the KNMI'23 scenarios around 2050 and 2100. The interpolated data is projected onto a 1 km by 1 km grid, without corrections for local land cover features such as cities or forests. However, large-scale climatic patterns, such as distance from the sea and elevation, are accounted for in the interpolation. The climate indices include annual and seasonal precipitation, the number of days per year with at least 15 mm or 25 mm of precipitation, and the maximum precipitation deficit, including median values and estimates for a 10-year recurrence of precipitation deficit. Temperature-related climate indices include average minimum and maximum temperatures by season and year, the number of ice days, frost days, warm days, summer days, tropical days, and tropical nights, as well as Cooling Degree Days and Heating Degree Days. Data was compiled by interpolating observations from stations that had a nearly complete set of measurements for the period 1991-2020.

Deze dataset bevat een reeks klimaatindices die zijn geïnterpoleerd op basis van waarnemingen van automatische weerstations en neerslagstations in Nederland voor de periode 1991-2020 eb voor de KNMI'23 scenarios rond 2050 en 2100. De geïnterpoleerde data is geprojecteerd op een grid van 1 bij 1 km, zonder correcties voor lokale landbedekkingskenmerken zoals steden of bossen. Grootschalige klimatologische patronen zoals afstand tot de zee en hoogteverschillen worden wel meegenomen in de interpolatie. De gebruikte klimaatindices omvatten jaarlijkse en seizoensgebonden neerslag, het aantal dagen per jaar met minimaal 15 mm of 25 mm neerslag, en het maximale neerslagtekort, inclusief mediaanwaarden en schattingen voor een 10-jaarlijks terugkerend neerslagtekort. Daarnaast omvatten de temperatuurgerelateerde klimaatindices de gemiddelde minimum- en maximumtemperaturen per seizoen en per jaar, het aantal ijsdagen, vorstdagen, warme dagen, zomerse dagen, tropische dagen en tropische nachten, en de Cooling degree days en Heating degree days. De dataset is samengesteld door middel van interpolatie van data van stations die een nagenoeg volledige set waarnemingen hadden voor de periode 1991-2020.

Long-term climate indices based on the KNMI observation stations have been transformed into time series for different scenarios in the future. These data were then interpolated with GSIE to gridded NetCDF files using the same geostatistical methods as used for the climate atlas.

Langjarige klimaat indices op basis van de KNMI waarneemstations zijn getransformeerd naar tijdreeksen voor verschillende scenarios in de toekomst. Deze gegevens zijn vervolgens met GSIE geïnterpoleerd naar vergridde NetCDF files met dezelfde geostatistische methoden als toegepast voor de klimaatatlas.
