Een METAR is een waarneemrapport van het weer voor de luchtvaart, dat routinematig ieder half uur op HH+25 en HH+55 uur wordt opgesteld voor de Nederlandse luchthavens. De meetgegevens die als informatie worden gebruikt voor de METAR, zijn afkomstig van meetinstrumenten die zijn opgesteld op de verschillende waarneemterreinen op de luchthavens.
