These scans are used to generate a single image per radar at 1500 m by linearly interpolating radar reflectivities in altitude. Radar reflectivities are then converted to rainfall intensities by using the Z=200R^1.6 formula, and these rainfall intensities are accumulated to 3-hour sums. A mean bias correction is then performed based on the available 3-hour rainfall accumulations from automatic rain gauges. These two resulting radar rainfall estimates from both radars are then combined to a single product by taking a weighted average. The weigths are a function of the distance of a given point to the radar. Radarreflectiviteiten worden door beide radars (De Bilt op 52.1017 NB, 5.1783 OL en Den Helder op 52.9533 NB, 4.7900 OL) gemeten in scans op hoeken van 0.3, 1.1, 2.0 en 3.0 graden met de horizon. Van deze scans wordt per radar een beeld gemaakt dat zo dicht mogelijk bij 1500 m hoogte ligt door radarreflectiviteiten lineair te interpoleren in de hoogte. De radarreflectiviteiten worden vervolgens geconverteerd naar neerslagintensiteiten door de relatie Z=200R^1.6 te gebruiken. De resulterende neerslagintensiteiten worden geaccumuleerd tot 3-uur sommen. Het hele beeld wordt gecorrigeerd met een constante factor die wordt afgeleid uit metingen van de automatische regenmeters van het KNMI. De twee resulterende radar neerslagschattingen worden vervolgens gecombineerd door een gewogen gemiddelde te nemen. De gewichten zijn afhankelijk van de afstand van een punt tot de radar.
