Observations of ice thickness, snow heights and water depths in Friesland
Waarnemingen van ijsdikte, sneeuwhoogte en waterdiepte in Friesland

In-situ observations were collected by the Rayonhoofden of the ‘Vereniging De Friesche Elfsteden’. The ice thickness measurements were made in the city of Veenwouden (53.2351 °N, 5.9867 °E) in Friesland during 1986 and 1987, and span a few weeks with one measurement each day. These observations were published in an article of De Bruin and Wessels (1988). In this KDP dataset also observations of Rayonhoofden during the winters of 2010, 2011 and 2012 are available. They consist of a few weeks of ice observations spread out over the province of Friesland. Apart from ice thicknesses, also snow heights and water depths were added here. These data were ingested in a dedicated website of KNMI, operated by Rudolf van Westrhenen and Martin Stam. It should be noted that the observations are not validated.

De in-situ waarnemingen zijn verricht door de Rayonhoofden van de 'Vereniging De Friesche Elfsteden'. De ijsdiktes zijn gemeten in Veenwouden (53.2351 °N, 5.9867 °E) in Friesland in 1986 en 1987, en omvatten een paar weken met een meetfrequentie van een meting per dag. Deze waarnemingen zijn al gepubliceerd in een artikel van De Bruin and Wessels (1988). In deze KDP dataset zijn ook de waarnemingen van Rayonhoofden gedurende de winters van 2010, 2011 en 2012 opgenomen. Die bevatten een paar weken aan metingen van ijs- en sneeuw diktes in Friesland. Behalve ijs- en sneeuwdiktes zijn hier ook waterdieptes toegevoegd. Deze data zijn verzameld met een speciale website van het KNMI, die beheerd werd door Rudolf van Westrhenen en Martin Stam. De waarnemingen zijn niet gevalideerd.
