KNMI Regenjaarboeken 1932-1990 (digitale scans)

This dataset contains digital scans of the KNMI rain yearbooks covering the period 1932–1990. The yearbooks include daily precipitation observations collected by the so-called volunteer network. Within this network, the amount of precipitation over the past 24 hours is measured daily at 08:00 UTC. Before 1932, these daily observations (or a subset thereof) were included in the Meteorological Yearbooks of the KNMI. Observers recorded their measurements on a special form, which was sent by post to the KNMI each month. There, the data were quality-checked and processed into meteorological and climatological products. Since 1990, observations have been submitted digitally on a daily basis and stored directly in a database. All validated precipitation observations from KNMI dating back to 1850 are available through the KNMI Data Platform (KDP) or the KNMI website.

Deze dataset bevat digitale scans van regenjaarboeken van het KNMI over de periode 1932–1990. De boeken bevatten dagelijkse neerslagwaarnemingen afkomstig van het zogenoemde vrijwilligersnetwerk. Binnen dit netwerk wordt dagelijks om 08:00 UTC de hoeveelheid neerslag van de afgelopen 24 uur gemeten. Voor 1932 werden deze dagelijkse waarnemingen (of een deel ervan) opgenomen in de Meteorologische Jaarboeken van het KNMI. De waarnemers noteerden hun metingen op een speciale kaart, die maandelijks per post naar het KNMI werd verstuurd. Daar werden de gegevens gecontroleerd op kwaliteit en verwerkt in meteorologische en klimatologische producten. Sinds 1990 worden de waarnemingen dagelijks digitaal aangeleverd en direct opgenomen in een database. Alle gevalideerde neerslagwaarnemingen van het KNMI sinds 1850 zijn beschikbaar via het KNMI Data Platform (KDP) of de KNMI-website.
