Een semi-automatische classificatie van voorbewerkte multitemporele hoge resolutie (HR) satellietbelden (Sentinel-2, Landsat 8) met referentiejaar 2015 (+/- 1 jaar), gebruikmakend van supervised en unsupervised elementen, leidend tot een op satellietbeelden gebaseerde bodembedekking classificaties. Op basis van een tijdserie analyse is een boom(kruin)bedekkings masker afgeleid. Vervolgens is een interactieve handmatige correctie op het afgeleide boom(kruin)bedekkings masker uitgevoerd en is het masker omgezet tot een naadloos mozaïek. Daarna is een monotemporele, op regressie gebaseerde thematische classificatie uitgevoerd op HR_IMAGE_2015, Landsat 8 en Sentinel-2-gegevens resulterend in een bestand met boomkruindichtheden (TCD laag/product). Hierbij zijn de HRL Forest-referentieproducten voor kalibratie en validatie gebruikt. Ten slotte zijn de resultaten omgezet naar een pan-Europese mozaïek TCD product, indien nodig gekalibreerd, en geïntegreerd met het boom(kruin)bedekkings masker. Geometrische nauwkeurigheid (positioning scale): minder dan één pixel verschil t.o.v. de door ESA geleverde orthogerectificeerde satellietbeelden. Thematische nauwkeurigheid:> 90% algehele nauwkeurigheid. Kwaliteitsborging volgt de ISO9000-normen voor kwaliteitsmanagement en bestaat uit specifieke procedures behorende bij de voortdurende kwaliteitscontroles (QA breakpoint) tijdens de implementatie van de productieketen. Dit wordt gedaan om blijvende controle over de verschillende productiestadia te behouden, om fitness-for-purpose van de eindproducten te garanderen en om aan alle kwaliteitsvereisten te voldoen. Prioriteit is gegeven aan de vereiste thematische nauwkeurigheid van elk product, evenals aan zaken als productconsistentie (ruimtelijk, thematisch, temporeel) en homogeniteit. Kwaliteitsbeoordeling: de kwaliteitsbeoordeling is uitgevoerd volgens INSPIRE-gegevensspecificaties. De data elementen die in de kwaliteitsbeoordeling zijn meegenomen, betreffen: (i) Volledigheid, (ii) Logische consistentie, (iv) Thematische nauwkeurigheid, (v) Temporele kwaliteit en (vi) Usability. Elk daarvan (met uitzondering van de thematische nauwkeurigheid) vormt een sectie in de QA / QC-procedures.
