Compared with version 1, data will Drop Size Distribution spectra variable, as the instrument's firmware has been update to a newer version (v2.0.23). Notes: Being The Green Village a test site, there could be some effect on the quality and availability of the data.

  • This dataset contains backscatter profiles from the CHM15k ceilometer, a one-wavelength backscatter lidar operating at 1064 nm. It includes daily uncalibrated, unvalidated data reported by the instrument at five sites: Cabauw, De Kooy, Groningen Airport Eelde, Maastricht Aachen Airport and Vlissingen. Retrieved cloud base heights up to 3 layers, sky condition information and aerosol layer height, based on manufacturer algorithms are included. Vertical resolution 10 m, time resolution 12 s.

  • Unvalidated drop size distributions as measured by a 2D Video Distromenter at the remote sensing site at Cabauw, averaged over 1 minute periods, with diameter classes of 0.10 mm. Drops larger than 6.00 mm and drops with velocities that deviate more than +-40% of the theoretical fall velocities corresponding to the drop diameter are discarded. Data are available from 2008-07-01.

  • This dataset contains S-band (central frequency of 3.298 GHz) radar measurements from the TU Delft transportable atmospheric radar TARA. It includes profiles of the equivalent reflectivity factor. Further, the horizontal wind (speed and direction) and the vertical Doppler velocity profiles are supplied. TARA is placed at the remote sensing site at Cabauw. It is a very sensitive profiling radar providing time-height indicators.

  • Volumetric soil moisture contents have been measured daily between 6 november 2003 and 19 August 2010 with a TDR set-up developed by Heimovaara and Bouten consisting of six arrays of six sensors between 5 and 73 cm below the soil surface. The six arrays were positioned on the perimeter of a circle with a diameter of 9 m with equal distances. The TDR was calibrated by taking 6 undisturbed soil samples (diameter: 20 cm; height: 20 cm) into the lab and comparing independently measured volumetric soil moisture contents to the TDR measurements. Measurements were performed at midnight local time, without taking daylight savings time into account.
